Exercise Sessions

Helen Goodman-Payne – Yoga

At last year’s Women’s Day, Helen gave taster sessions in Indian Head Massage, but this year would like to lead two yoga sessions. Qualifying as a Dance & Movement Leader in 1999, Helen completed her Yoga for Health in June 2000 and the Remedial in March 2001. She completed Touch for Health in 2002 and her Yoga studies with FRYOG in 2004 with excellence.

Helen also has a home practice in counselling, holistic Indian head massage, aromatherapy, individual yoga sessions, relaxation and women’s support groups. She teaches co-counselling (a form of self-help therapy), Reiki (a form of natural healing), yoga classes and Dance and Movement. Helen enjoys meditation, dancing, walking and drumming and looks forward to introducing you to the joys of yoga on 13 November!

During the two 30 minute yoga sessions Helen will lead an initial relaxation, some gentle yoga stretching movement, sitting on chairs and a short meditation/visualisation at the end with a Q&A session.

Michelle Wilkinson - Yoga Dance

Inspired by nature, Yoga Dance is a fusion of easy yoga positions and simple human movements. Time is given for breath and body structure awareness. There is the opportunity to experience a deeper sense of relaxation and an understanding of your moving self. The workshop will explore moving in sitting (with or without chairs), lying, standing or travelling positions.

We are two artists who find inspiration in free dance movement and in nature. We create simple artworks at different sites with whatever nature provides. Because these artworks are ephemeral we record our explorations as digital photographs. These are then printed onto a variety of handmade papers and made into beautiful textured canvases. See Moving Nature for workshops, exhibitions and sales and visit the Moving Art Gallery for images of our explorations, workshops and canvas artworks. We will also be exhibiting and selling our artwork in the Art and Demonstration area.

For more information contact Michelle Wilkinson and further details are available on www.yogadance.co.uk

Karen Reid - Thai Chi

After working in a variety of schools in London and in East Devon since qualifying in 1974 and gaining experience of teaching a wide range of ages and abilities, I took early retirement at the end of December 2007 to spend time and energy with family and to pursue my interest in Healing. I qualified as a registered healer practitioner in 2006 after a 2 year probationary period during which I followed a developmental course accredited by UK Healers.

I had used Flower Essences as personal and family aids for a considerable number of years and was able to formalise this interest and enhance my professional understanding and practice by studying during my first year of retirement and gaining a recognised qualification from Mandala Complementary Studies in 2009. I am now registered with the British Flower and Vibrational Essence Association as an Advanced Practitioner member.

I have studied T’ai Chi and Qi Qong for about 12 years, developing my knowledge and practice of Yang Long Form T’ai Chi and several forms of Qi Qong through regular classes, and have stepped in to teach T’ai Chi on several occasions over the past 4 years for periods of several months.

In this workshop I will aim to give participants experience of the main principles of T’ai Chi which are an intrinsic part of all Forms. We will then explore the moves which make up Part 1 of the Yang Long Form. At all times the focus will be on experiencing the movement of energy through this ancient form of exercise.
