Norma Tallack - Reflexologist |
| My name is Norma Tallack, I am a 'mature' lady who practices Reflexology. I was a staff nurse at the RD&E for 20 years and when retirement was looming I trained as a reflexologist as I could not imagine being away from the caring profession altogether. Ten years ago I joined FORCE on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave, and am still with them. We offer 6 free complementary therapies to cancer patients and to a carer. People really appreciate and appear to benefit from this and it is very rewarding for the therapists. |

Sarah Gibbs I.H.B.C. - Skincare Therapist |
|
See your skin’s past present and future in only 5 minutes - Face mapping skin analysis is a revolutionary approach developed by The Dermal Institute exclusively for Dermalogica. I will analyse your skin zone-by-zone easily, quickly and professionally. Not only does this provide a much more accurate diagnosis of your skins concerns, it can actually help to detect them before they surface. This ensures that you receive the correct products for your skin conditions. You can consult with me in the main hall – no appointment necessary!
I grew up in Surrey and qualified as a Beauty Therapist in 1983. Like most therapists I polished off the rough edges working in a local salon. My next position was a teacher and examiner at the International Health & Beauty Council. This involved teaching and examining at different colleges around the UK.
I was married in 1985 and 2 years later moved to Devon where my two sons Ben and Thomas were born. I taught students at Exeter College for a year before a complete change of career which saw me join Lloyds Bank.
Although I enjoyed my time with the bank it did not give me the job satisfaction that I craved so in 1997 I opened the Skin Care Centre in Sidmouth. I moved to Newton Poppleford in January 2007 and built a salon in the garden ‘ Beauty With Vues’. I specialise in skin care treatment using Dermalogica products. I love to transform ladies who have real concerns regarding their skin whether it be adult acne, pigmentation, skin aging or sensitivity.
I am a very active person who enjoys nothing better than taking Fern my Springer Spaniel for long country walks or running with the Woman’s Running Network. I am also a keen gardener. People describe me as a very sociable person and I am partial to the odd Gin & Tonic.
For a consultation please give me a call on 01395 568906 or email s.l.gibbs@btinternet.com |

Deborah Pearce - Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, Massage Therapist, Aromatherapist |
|
After graduating with an honours degree in Physics, Deborah spent 13 years in IT as a Systems Analyst and Consultant for major software houses. She left the computer industry to join the charity sector and during the last 15 years has worked as a Senior Manager for two major animal charities and an environmental charity.
In her spare time Deborah studied to become an ITEC qualified Massage Therapist and Aromatherapist and runs a mobile practice in East Devon and Plymouth. She later qualified as a Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, having studied at the Clifton Practice in Bristol. Deborah practises Hypnotherapy in Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth.
Deborah utilises SFBT (Solution Focussed Brief Therapy) and elements of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) as the underlying psychotherapy models for her work. Unlike earlier forms of psychotherapy, SFBT does not require the client to relive painful experiences from the past, rather it acknowledges where the client currently is and helps the client get to where they want to be. It is a very powerful, liberating therapy and Deborah has been privileged to have helped a large number of clients overcome a wide range of difficulties.
During the session you’ll learn about the power of the sub-conscious and Deborah will guide you into a state of deep relaxation through hypnosis. |

Angie Jones - Shiatsu Massage |
|
Shiatsu translated means “finger pressure” it is a traditional Japanese healing art. It relaxes and de-stresses the physical, emotional and mental aspects of a person and promotes the feeling of overall wellbeing. Shiatsu helps Ki (chi), our life force energy, flow through the body in a series of channels called meridians. When Ki is depleted or blocked, the person experiences it as a discomfort or dis-ease. Shiatsu can help a wide range of conditions – from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health; regular sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.
I was first drawn to Shiatsu twenty-one years ago when I suffered panic attacks after the birth of my son. I had a course of Shiatsu, which led to a complete cure. This inspired me to study shiatsu so that I could help others in a similar way. I now live in Ashburton, Devon. I have a thriving practice and work from two clinics: Ashburton and Nature’s Larder in Ivybridge. I studied for three years at the Devon School of Shiatsu in the company of some internationally known teachers and graduated in 2002 gaining my MRSS. I am continually updating my Shiatsu skills. In 2001 I studied with Carola Beresford-Cooke, on a Zen Shiatsu course. I look forward to meeting you all on 14 November!
I am happy to donate a free one-hour Shiatsu massage session to the raffle on 14 November.

Anne Marie Reed - Reflexology and Aromatherapy |
|
I am 42, have been married for 22 years and have three older children. I have been involved in complementary therapies for the last six years and am qualified in several massage therapies: reflexology, aromatherapy and hopi candling. It is something I came to through seeking ways to help my disabled son and a close friend with cancer through their ill health. Finding not enough practical and natural ways to deal with the problems they were facing, I sought out complementary therapies to learn in order to help them. This is something that paid dividends for me as the health of them both has improved dramatically and I found holistics was something I loved and had a real passion for.
I now work from The Integrated Centre for Health in Cullompton, The Clinic, St Peters Street, Tiverton and with FORCE, my special interest areas being cancer care and back pain. I love my job and finding working with FORCE hugely rewarding, so am really looking forward to meeting you all at the Women’s Health and Wellbeing day.

Maria Mallett - Reiki Practitioner |
Maria Mallett is a Reiki Practitioner. Her intent is to enable clients to recieve the truly beautiful benefits that Reiki has brought to her own life. Fully insured and a member of the UK Reiki Federation adhering to comprehensive Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Translated from Japanese, Reiki means "Universal Life Force" It is the vital life energy that flows through all living things.
Reiki can benefit ailments such as : Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Back Injuries etc...
Examples of clients wishing to experience a treatment range from relaxing to to aiding healing during life threatening illnesses.
Reiki will not interfere with conventional or complementry treatments as your body will only draw from the energy what it needs, in effect it can compliment the effect of other therapies by putting you in a relaxed and receptive state.
This non-intrusive therapy requires that you remain fully clothed. During a treatment your body draws energy through the therapist, who acts as a channel. The Reiki will be drawn wherever it is needed, therefore it is an individual experience.
The ways you can use Reiki are numerous!
- Yourself – to improve sleep, decrease stress, lower blood pressure, hetp with PMT
- or children who need support physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually
- Babies – helping them to sleep, helping new parents feel empowered to help support their young.
- Antenatal support - for pregnancy and during the birth to help reduce stress for mother and baby
- Goals – helping you to achieve them
- Protection – if travelling or in a negative environment... the list goes on!

Susan Harwood DSHom RSHom - Homeopath |
|
I first became interested in Homeopathy 14 years ago when I needed to find an alternative way of dealing with my child’s eczema. Within a few weeks of taking the homeopathic remedy, I watched my child’s health blossom and my fascination with this highly effective system of medicine blossomed too.
I trained for four years at the Devon School of Homeopathy under the tutelage of Misha Norland, an internationally acclaimed homeopath and founder member of the Society of Homeopaths. I now have a thriving practice at three clinics: Axminster, Plympton and my favorite place, my home in Exmouth.
I practice classical homeopathy offering constitutional prescribing in most cases, but when appropriate, I use the ‘Sensation’ method. For those who know homeopathy – this takes the patient along a slightly different path that leads deep into the sensation of the pathology as expressed by the patient, often guiding me more succinctly to the correct remedy.
I am lucky enough to love my work; in fact I would go as far as to say I’m passionate about it. When you train in homeopathy it becomes a way of life – a different way of looking at the world, and through that I hope to encourage an awareness of how to achieve truly creative health through homeopathic treatment.
As a practicing homeopath I am fully committed to a programme of continued professional development, as I believe that learning is a lifelong process. I am insured through my membership of the Society of Homeopaths and practice according to its code of ethics and conduct. www.homeopathy-soh.org
I am happy to offer a free £35 consultation session as a donation to the LW4W Raffle on 14 November.

Maggie Stanley and Chris Guyon - Stress Busting Angels |
|
We met in 1996 on a Reiki course in Margate, Kent. There was an instant connection and the course tutor threatened to separate us on several occasions. We came together to form Stress Busting Angels a few years ago. Originally offering de-stressing and chill out sessions, we later developed an interest in the menopause and in the last year have developed a workshop on the menopause and a self help book called A Little Less Dragon A little More Angel. Our interests and experience as complementary therapists and the different approaches combine to make an interesting working partnership and we strive to bring warmth, fun and humour to workshops, therapy and writing. We’re happy to talk to you at the LW4W event about stress and the menopause or treat you to a taster session of one of our therapies and we look forward to meeting you there!
Maggie worked for the NHS for a number of years as a Cardiac technician and most recently as a specialist Stop Smoking Advisor. She taught counselling skills and assertiveness in adult education for a number of years. Maggie's keen interest in behaviour change led her on to becoming involved with The University of West England co writing the behaviour change module for the NHS Health Trainers course. Maggie runs a private practice offering complimentary therapies and also works as a freelance trainer for South Gloucester PCT and for adult education delivering psycho/social skills courses. Maggie is a volunteer for Somerset Cancer Care.
Chris worked in the NHS for over thirty years in different areas she finally gave up the 'day job' to concentrate on her Reiki Practice and teaching Reiki to students. As well as running her practice she was part of a team of Complementary Therapists who were employed by her local Council to go into the Civic Offices to de-stress staff in the workplace. She also gives voluntary Reiki sessions at her local Women's Refuge. Three years ago Chris trained as an EFT Practitioner. After knowing Maggie for eleven years she decided it was time to pool their knowledge and experiences and Stress Busting Angels was born! For more information please see www.stressbustingangels.co.uk
We are happy to donate a copy of our book A Little Less Dragon A little More Angel and a bottle of wine to the LW4W raffle.

Heather Eardley - Nutritional Therapist |
|
Having benefited myself from using a nutritional approach to health problems, I am keen to share my knowledge and enthusiasm about healthy eating. I have recently trained as a nutritional therapist and by looking at the person as a whole, significant improvements can be made to health and wellbeing. The first step is a full case history to obtain a complete picture in terms of symptoms and diet, including current lifestyle and how much time you have for shopping and cooking. I will then prepare a nutritional treatment plan which will include practical and realistic steps to achieve your goal.
During the women’s day I will be offering free 20 minute 1:1 sessions when I will be able to provide some initial guidance and practical advice on how your general health and wellbeing can be improved by natural foods and supplements. For further information, please see my website www.organinutrition.com or telephone me on: 01395 568727.
I am happy to donate a one-hour Nutrition consultation to the raffle in support of FORCE.

Julie Kilsbie - Precision Foot or Hand Reflexology |
|
I am offering foot or hand reflexology. I was taught by Leslie Hunter, and a short time after, I learnt from Jan Williamson who is a teacher of precision reflexology, how to incorporate precision work. My experiences with other therapies, especially Reiki and Indian head massage (where I am working with energy) has given me the confidence to bring this to the reflexology treatment I now perform. I believe we can all access energy. Being in the moment, pausing and focussing are powerful processing tools. Organised days like this are great for me to be able to share my experience.
We are a soap shop in Sidmouth with two holistic rooms. We have lots of different therapies being practised here in a non committal setting. Why not check our website floandus.co.uk or call in the shop, it smells lovely! Flo & Us , 8 Fore Street , Sidmouth , Devon . Contact us on 01395 516053
In the raffle there is an opportunity to win a voucher for a Reiki session with me plus a selection of our organic soap, altogether worth £50.00.
See you on the day!

Sue Proctor - Dramatherapist |
|
Sue is a member of the Health Professions Council (HPC) as well a The British Association of Dramatherapists. Originally a Registered General and Mental Health Nurse, since retraining Sue has worked as a dramatherapist both in the NHS and privately.
Sue will be offering dramatherapy in the Main Hall at the Women’s Day. It is suitable for all , can be done with a group or on an individual basis. You do not have to be able to ‘act’, or be a performer or an extrovert. Dramatherapy enables verbal and non verbal communication. This can be beneficial for those who find difficulty expressing themselves verbally, or those who ‘hide’ behind over verbalising, complicating the issues.
The tools or ‘props’ may be materials, objects, figures, pictures, a sandtray, dreams, past events or future aspirations. These tools help access symbolism, metaphor and projection, key aspects of this therapy.
Drama is about life and life is about drama; therapy is about getting to know yourself, what makes you, you, what seems to work, what doesn’t and what means are at our disposal to make changes that may be useful. Changing our perception of ourselves and of the world around us can open up new possibilities, we can emerge out of our chrysalis and experience living in a completely new and different way.
For more details about this very interesting therapy, take a look at the Ebdons Court website where you will find Sue’s details: www.sidmouthnhc.co.uk/Dramatherapy.html
